You got a friend in me...

Arggg, school starts tomorrow. Hopefully, it'll breeze by pretty quickly -- how sad is that, classes haven't even begun and I'm thinking about break already. What sucks even more is that I'm sick too... boo I say, boooooo! Anywhos, my last week of freedom has been pretty fun. I find that more and more that my friends were actually my sister's friends first. What's the deal? It's actually pretty cool though -- I learn a lot from them despite the 7-10 year age gap in some instances. Sometimes I feel like a youth vampire, leeching all the fun and freshness out of them so I can stay alive. On Thursday, my b-boys tried to teach me how to do a freeze pose -- pretty soon, I'll be able to do this! -- the image on the left =) That's gonna be so damn dope! It's funny though, those guys make that stuff look so easy. Spinning on their heads, chair poses and whatnot -- my goodness, just absolutely amazing. They tell me, "Kat, just keep practicing. You'll get it soon." Thanks guys, the old lady will keep trying.
After practice on Saturday, we went to a buffet to kick back for a bit. These guys are so ambitious in everything that they want to do in life -- in dance -- in school -- for their families -- man, that is so refreshing to hear and see. Sometimes, I think we spend to much time thinking about what we don't have and who and what we don't know, and neglect to be grateful for the things that are in our grasp. These guys remind me of that all the time, and I am thankful, thankful, thankful! Their energy keeps me going, and I am happy to have them as a youth resource. =)
Last night was Neema's 21st b-day -- also, another good friend of my sister's. Prolly wasn't a good idea to get all sweaty on the dancefloor, then go outside in the cold -- explains why I feel like more crap this morning. But I say, if ya gonna go out, go out big! haha... was fun stuff last nite. What a dope way to end a winter break -- even though I'm sore as oh hell and coughing like crazy -- still great. =)
To my sis and her friends -- keep at it guys, and thanks for letting me into your worlds and teaching me more about life, love, and happiness.
