I apologize in advance for all the jumps in events, but I have to get all of this out somehow.
"You ain't s#!& without your homeboys!"
I think the late 2-Pac hit the nail on the head with that line. This week, I really saw the great it is when friends and family have your back. They don't even have to do anything extraordinary to show that they care about you. My dance group, my support group, my friends, and family have provide such warmth and comfort from the treacherous outside world (I apologize for the flowery language, I'm gonna get real in a minute. Gotta practice this talent if I wanna write a good letter for grad school!). Last weekend when we performed at How Berkeley Can You Be, we had so much fun... sans the nudists. Angie and I were totally thugged out, opting to go for the LL Cool J look (might I add that he is looking soooo fine in the new video, but I digress), one pant leg up, mirrored shades, black adidas pants, red tops, and white bandanas. Ghetto princesses extraordinaire! It is so refreshing just to dance and have fun. I totally forgot about the long walk, because I enjoyed dancing and laughing the whole time. It's so cool to find a group of people that you can just be real with. After we performed in the park, I kicked it for awhile with the "Asian Persuasion", aka Elijah, aka Ho Kim, aka, Jimmy Ho, aka Eli (Dude, I'm gonna miss you, but I'll see ya at Ibiza next month, and I'll make sure to catch you in the Spring/Summer. Don't be a stranger though). We talked about business and corporate America, and how shady it is, but how its existence is necessary (deep as the ocean!). All in all, it was a good day, and I can't wait to develop the pictures. I kicked it on Monday with my girls at the Y! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and spirit, and I can't wait to hear more. (Ana, I can't wait to see you again! We have to get you to start writing cuz I know you have a lot to say. And we have to sign up for those cooking classes cuz I'm still strugglin').
This week, I had a lot of sibling comfort as well. I went to Toy's R Us with my sister to buy a b-day gift for our neighbor's son, which was fun and frustrating at the same time. Going shopping with my sister is something else. I try to ask her for her opinion for things, and unfortunately she is no help in that department. I spent 20 minutes trying to have her help me decide if I should get a Talking Tigger or a Sing and Snore Winnie The Pooh. Eventually I had to call my mom and ask for assistance cuz my sis got caught up in looking for toys to buy for herself. It was cool though. I SAW some stuffed animals I'd like to add to my collection, but a sista is too broke right now to buy anything that ain't necessary.
Saturday, I kicked it again with my group. I don't like this name that a few of my group mates have given me though. Let's just say I'm the J-Lo of the group (no, not cuz I date just about any and every celebrity!). Let me just go back to being "Record" again. I got mad luv for ya'll though.
Today I kicked it with my homegirl Irenie (thanks girl!). We saw the Tuxedo, which wasn't half bad. Just some clarification though: Should we avoid all the Jimmy Tong's we encounter in life? LOL! Catch ya laterz. I got more to say, but I don't wanna bore you with yet another long ass blog.
