Is being a nerd a bad thing? That's a thought I have pondered for many, many years. All throughout my years in school I was labeled one and would get so frustrated and angered by it. I guess when you're young, everyone is just dying to be considered cool, and heaven forbid if you are even seen talking to or standing near someone even thought of being a nerd. As you get older, you learn not to trip so much when people label you, no matter what it is. I guess you realize that they are just words and really don't have much weight when you think about it. I bet you're wondering why I decided to analyze such a term so deeply. Well, it stems from what a friend of mine said to me earlier. She got the e-mail I sent about my blog while at work, and she yelled from the other room, "Oh my God Katherine, you are such a nerd! You have an online journal? That's so corny!" I can laugh about that now, and know that Tina only teases me out of love (I hope!). I couldn't help but die laughing at that, now at least. It's funny how things just don't matter as much as you get older.
p.s.: Tina, you make me sick! (LOL!) You're still my homie though! :)

Hello once again! How goes it? I luv visiting the SLC! Thursday brings me sooo much joy cuz I get to see really good friends and hang out in a place that brings me such comfort. Today I ran into a few of my Bridgees (for those who are not in the know, I was a workshop leader for Summer Bridge -- which is a program which helps incoming freshmen acclimate to the UC Berkeley campus -- and Bridgees are what we call our students). It's amazing to see how they have grown since the begining of summer until now. They all seem more balanced and focused. I'm soooooo proud of them for that! They all worked really hard and I know that only positive outcomes will result from whatever they do. Today, I also had lunch with my good friend Annette. There are very few people that you encounter in life that provide you with a sense of balance and support, and Annette defintely has that ability. It's also cool to have people you can gripe and maybe brag a little bit to without feeling guilty and selfish, so Annette I thank you for that. I also see these qualities in a lot of people that I have encountered at the SLC. Maria, Liz, Luisa, and Irene. Definitley Irene! How many people do you know that has the ability to be your biggest tormentor, yet really great friend at the same time? Not very many I would bet (if any at all!). After I kicked it at the SLC, I then went to the RSF (damn, what's up with all these acronyms?!?!) for cardio funk and boot camp. I am sooooooo sore right now it's not even funny. Note to self: know when you're over doing it, then stop! All in all it was a good day. This week I feel that I am finding out more and more about myself each day, and learning to appreciate those qualities more and more. On Mondays, I co-facilitate a women's support group with my friend (and hero!) Ana T.J. It's so comforting to be amongst a group of women who don't have any overt similarities, but deep down, we are just the same. We deal with the same drama, share the same pain, the same happiness, and the same deires. I'm really looking forward to Monday when we analyze our personalities! All this week I have been e-mailing my friend TaeWoo as well, and he's been having me ROTFLMAO! That dude is off da hook! it's rare to find people with the same sense of humor that you do, so I am so glad to have him as an e-mail buddy :). Well, it's gettin' late and I gotta look at a few more pages of prefixes and suffixes, and do a reading an comprehension set before Mr. Sandman arrives. The countdown to the GRE has begun, and I can't wait until the final ticks on that clock is gone! Talk to you later!

Hello one and all and welcome to my blog! I must thank my potna Irenie for hipping me to this. She's da bomb! I've never really used a journal when I was growing up. Sometimes it's just too darn hard to sit down and actually write. It's gotten much easier for me to just type things out now. You know, with technology taking over and all. I just can't help being an IM and e-mail nerd. Anywho, as it says in my intro my life has indeed become a soap opera. Intrigue, suspense, and all! I didn't realize that until yesterday when my friend Stevie mentioned that in an e-mail she sent me (thanks for the title!). I'll mention as much as possible, but I must protect the innocent, so pseudonyms are a must. Anywho, thanks for checking my blog out and I'll write more later!
