Randomness…

Ever since I got back, I’ve been hitting the ground running. I got my pics back yesterday and will post stuff soon. In the meantime, here are some other happenings.

You can always go home…
Sunday I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, because I was supposed to go-go dance that night, but the top I had need a strapless bra. I swear, something that should have taken me no more than half an hour took an eternity! I drove to Southland in Hayward to pop into Vicky Secret, but so no such luck, cuz the entire mall was closed! Shizer! So off to store number two, store number three, and so on. A girl was getting desperate! I even slipped up and down the Walgreens’ aisle, but it was all for not. The over the shoulder boulder holder gods were against me, but I figured my last resort would be to go along International Blvd. In East Oakland… something is always open there. It had been hella long since I had been in that part of town. I mean, I drive through, but haven’t really walked there in a while. I got flashbacks – like when me and my grandma used to catch the bus and go shopping at the carnicero to buy meat for tamales, and I could get hooked up with those big ass pink sugar cookies…. Mmmmm, good stuff! After bouncing to a few stores here and there, I finally found something…for hella cheap! Where else can you find a good supporting strapless bra for four bucks! Not to mention coming across folks that don’t make you feel like you never left home, that was even more dope.

I’m sooooo not worthy…
It’s hella hard to get back into the swing of things at work, and it doesn’t help that a good friend of mine kidnapped me for lunch. My friend Ojig promised me a birthday lunch, and today she was making due on what she agreed to. I told her she didn’t have to, considering that my b-day was almost 3 months ago, but I couldn’t get her to see otherwise. She took me to this place called Eccolo in Berkeley. Really shi-shi mannn… this coming from a girl that’s used to Durant food court lunches and dinners, or dollar Fat Slice… haha. Anywhos, it was fun people watching… seeing the suits bust out deals; old ladies meeting for afternoon martinis, with lunch on the side; cheap book readers coming in and filling up on free bread and water, then bouncing… good stuff! I’m hella stuffed now on olive bread, a chicken salad, an artichoke and mozzerella sandwich, and crème brûlée… mmmmm, niiiiice. It was really nice to catch up with my homie… we always see each other in passing, but it was nice to kick it and chill out for a while. I owe you back miss. =)

Kimtd, u da shiznit!
(stories, mad props #1)

I figured on my trip I would journal all of my encounters and memories and then log them onto here… HA! That was hella wishful thinking. So figured what I would do now to fill you in on my trip is to start out with the things that were the most memorable and had a big impact on me.

One of my big incentives to go on this trip was to see my really good friend kimtd. He’s honestly one person I can say is genuine through and through. With all of his visions, and most importantly his actions (which lots of folks rarely do), only big things await him, big things. Just remember the little people when you get there man! When I get through all this PhD stuff, a sistah’s gonna need some help with getting’ the Federal loans off my back… hehehe ;)

During the trip, a lot of the people I was supposed to hang out with flaked on me, but kimtd was gracious enough to let me crash at his place for the entire time I was in NYC, and took the time to show me around when he could. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you! Cuz my ass surely would have been lost and confused… haha. I’ll go into more detail about my NYC experience in more detail, but I had to stop first and give my boy props, cuz he’s more than deserving of them. Dayum, I’m hella mushy huh? Well, if being mushy is telling folks that mean a lot to you that you are thankful and appreciate them, then so be it. =)
